Gabriella is a very nice girl when someone gets to know her. Even though she may be nice, she is also extremely shy. She isn't the type to walk over to a boy and tell them that she likes them, that just isn't her. She'd wait for the boy to tell him he liked her, instead.

When it comes to her school work, she becomes very confident in it as well as in herself. And though she may be really smart to her friends and the people who look at her, there's a lot more to her that people don't know. With her kindness, comes a love for her friends and her mother. She would do anything for her friends if she could and her mother means so much to her.

Just like everyone else, she has fears and secrets. Though she keeps these locked away deep in her heart, it's going to take someone really special for her to tell them too.

"When my parents got divorced. It is the worst thing that can happen to any family. My father had his bags packed, my mother was very angry, and I remember I was standing on the stairs crying hysterically, begging my dad not to leave. He promised me he'd always be there for me. I remember I couldn't let go of his hand, while my mother tried to pull me away. It was a really bad day."

For as long as Gabriella could remember she has never lived in the same city for a year. But of course that was before she came to East High. Her life always revolved around her mothers job which meant she would always have to be transferred to a new school as well. Besides all the moving that her and her mother did, Gabriella always kept her head in her books. She always concentrated on her school work, knowing that one day she would want to be very successful in her future.

Preparing for her future, she never imagined what would happen to her in the middle of her sophomore year of high school. She never thought that high school could be so much more than just homework and studying. That was until she met Troy Bolton. She didn’t see Troy as the Basketball Guy just like everyone else saw him though; after they first sang together and talked to him she saw him as the nice caring and generous guy that he truly was. Something she knew his friends were too preoccupied to notice about him.

To Gabriella though, singing with Troy felt like everything she ever dreamed of and so much more. She knew he truly was a wonderful guy and she was very glad to have him as a friend, not just because he was the most popular guy at East High. Though singing in the spring musical was everything she’d thought it would be, she was thrilled that her mothers company was going to let her stay in New Mexico until Gabriella graduated. As the summer of her junior year came rolling around faster than she thought, Gabriella not only promised herself but also promised Troy that she wanted to remember the summer because she never lived in one place for a year. Thanks to Troy, Gabriella scored her first summer job working at the Lava Springs resort owned by the Evans family. Little did those East High Wildcats know of.

Thinking that the summers job was going to be a breeze, and mostly fun and not much work everyone took for granted the power of Sharpay Evans. Yet, Gabriella had other things to worry about, like a huge identity crisis, her boyfriend neglecting his friends for a scholarship, her boyfriend not realizing who his true friends are…. All these issues faced Gabriella dead on and while she told troy that she was serious about what she said with remembering the summer there was only one option that she found was necessary for this type of situation. She quit her job as a lifeguard at Lava Springs, making her point clear to all her friends.

Though summer came and went for most of those Wildcats, it is now senior year and Gabriella is faced with much more larger issues than the summer had brought her. Ever since she was little her and her mother had been talking about her dream of going to Stanford in California. Sure, ever since she was younger this dream sounded possible and wonderful, but now with the fact that she would be so many thousands of miles away from her one true love, her boyfriend Troy… Well Gabriella is beginning to doubt the fact that she could ever go to Stanford anymore. She never thought an issue as big as this would ever haunt her in her dreams, yet everyone has their doubts.
